Windows 95/98/ME/2000/NT/XP/Vista/7/8
NEW FEATURES:
- Vista/7/8 Compatible.
- Art Lighting Added!!! Place any sized art at any position on the wall. Set the ceiling at any height, and set the lamp at any distance out from the wall. LightCalc will actually draw the ellipse of light falling on the artwork allowing the designer to see the coverage of light on the arts' surface. LightCalc will also determine the Candlepower necessary to provide the Footcandle level desired. Multiple lamps can be used to spread the light across the artwork or gallery wall and display all dimensions for spacing. If you have the book, "Kitchen & Bath Lighting... made easy," the new art window is like Chapter 7 on steroids! Finally, the visually oriented designer can see what they are actually going to get prior to installation.
- Pendants can now be dropped from the ceiling!!! Spacing, candlecower, and footcandle measurements will be based on the pendant, not the ceiling. Great for islands and vaulted ceilings. Info
- Printing is supported in every window so you can keep a record of favorite configurations in a notebook.
- New 32 bit architecture means faster speed.
- Windows behave correctly with the Windows 95 thru XP Task bar.
- Windows can be maximized to allow for displaying larger rooms. Many of you had asked for this one.
- A whole new look and help system. The find feature has been added to the already very concise help system which aids in finding just exactly what you are looking for.
- CU tables updated in the help system. Much easier to read and valuable new information is included with each table.
- Gone is the dingy blue-gray screen. Like your lighting designs... the program's windows are filled with pure white light... much easier to look at.
- The new book, "Kitchen & Bath Lighting... made easy," is now available separately or bundled with the software. This book gives an in depth look at lighting fundamentals, as well as, advanced lighting techniques. The art lighting chapter is totally unique for "fitting" your lighting pattern to the framed artwork... and it is easy! The comprehensive lamp listing from GE, Phillips, and Sylvania/Osram make finding the right lamp a snap. Recommendations for the best color rendering lamps are provided.
- This version comes complete with an automatic uninstall feature.

Version 2.1.1:
New Features/Bug Fixes:
- Vista/7/8 compatibility added.
New Features/Bug Fixes:
- In Windows XP, the window headers changed in size causing the "Floor" label seen at the bottom of the "General & Task Lighting (Inverse Square Law)" and "Art Lighting (Inverse Square Law)" windows to be partially cut off. This is simply a cosmetic change and calculations performed are not changed.
- In Windows XP, the window headers changed in size causing the room width dimension to be partially cut off at the bottom of the "General Lighting (Lumen Method)" window. This is simply a cosmetic change and calculations performed are not changed.
New Features/Bug Fixes:
- An Art Lighting window has been added which allows the designer to size a piece of art or gallery wall, place it at any height, establish a ceiling height and place the lamp any distance out from the art wall. LightCalc will calculate the lamp candlepower necessary to provide the footcandle level desired. The designer can place multiple lamps abreast, set a beam angle for the lamp, and LightCalc will display the ellipse of light on the artwork and dimensions for spacing. A cross section of the beam of light on the art is also displayed.
- Dimensions across the top of the Lumen Window lighting grid have been moved to the bottom. In this way, the dimensions for any size room can be viewed. This should help commercial designers working with larger spaces.
- An extra viewing scale has been added to the Lumen Window; 100%, 50%, and 25%.
- A bug was fixed where in certain small, narrow rooms, the grid did not match the suggested number of fixtures.
- Help file expanded to cover Art Lighting Window.
- Some window names have been renamed to indicate the calculation method used. The order of appearance in the menu has been changed slightly.
New Features/Bug Fixes:
- A "Calculate" button has been added to each screen. The button is the same as pressing enter. Some of you asked for this one.
- On some machines the "About LightCalc" window available from the Help Menu would cause LightCalc to shut down. While not a major problem, it was an annoyance. It has been fixed.
New Features/Bug Fixes:
- NumLock/CapsLock/ScrollLock problem patched. Microsoft has acknowledged a bug in the compiler upon which LightCalc is based. The bug causes the NumLock, CapsLock/ScrollLock keys to be turned off in certain situations. Areas throughout the program which triggered the bug have been rewritten. This seems to be faster than waiting for Microsoft. NumLock/CapsLock/ScrollLock light may flicker as you use the program. This flicker will occur until Microsoft fixes the bug and has no effect on the program or your computer.
- After resetting any window and selecting About LightCalc from the Help menu, the "About" window would appear for five seconds and then open the General Lighting Window. Now the About Window simply displays until you click on it.
